Pool and Spray Park Update
June 2 2021The coming heat wave has generated numerous inquiries into the status of the Spray Park and Swimming Pool. While the end of COVID restrictions appear to be in sight, the Province has still not released any information to Municipalities in regards to when we can open at a sufficient capacity. At this time some pools can partially reopen at a reduced capacity, but we have determined it is not feasible to operate our pool under the current restrictions.
Currently, we are filling the swimming pool in anticipation of an announcement sometime later this month, but we are not yet heating the water, and our pool staff is waiting on standby. When we receive word that pools can open, we can be ready within 10 days from the announcement. We will release more information on the pool when we have more information from the Province.
The spray park will also remain closed until further notice. We understand it is going to be hot this week, and it would be an ideal time to open, but we are not yet able to do so under current restrictions.
Unrelated to COVID is the closure of the Lions Park bathrooms. The bathroom plumbing in Lions Park sustained some damage and we are awaiting specialty parts to arrive so they can be repaired. The bathrooms will reopen as soon as those parts arrive and the required work can be completed.
