CITIZEN OF THE YEAR 2024

August 12 2024

The citizen of the Year award focuses not only on the current year’s accomplishments of the nominee but also gives much weight to the pattern of volunteer service given year after year by the deserving candidate.

This year, we are thrilled to present the Citizen of the Year’s award to a very hard working and deserving community-minded individual…Mrs. Patty Pitcher. Congratulations on your nomination!

Patty has been a devoted and highly engaged contributor to many community and school initiatives. She has served year after year and is still presently serving  on various boards, and councils,  and is always offering her volunteer services where needed around town.

Here are some of Patty’s accomplishments:

Patty is currently serving as the Secretary for the Cardston Elementary School Parent Council, a position, she has held for the past 2 years. She is concurrently volunteering as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Cardston Junior High School Fundraising Association and this for the past three years.

As a side note, Patty also served as the President of the Cardston Junior High School Parent Council for 3 years.

Outside of her school related volunteerism, Patty is currently  serving on the Cardston Skating Club Board as their Carnival Coordinator which she has done for the past 2 years. Prior to this position, Patty served on the Cardston Gymnastics Club’s Fundraising Committee as Secretary/Treasurer for 3 years. For several years, Patty has also promoted and helped with figure skating, rodeo, gymnastics events, competitions, carnivals, and fundraisers.

Patty is a great fundraiser, past and present. She has organized  and spear-headed several raffles, casino events, bingos, and markets to help raise money for the schools and clubs.

You can always find Patty volunteering at various community events throughout the year. Most recently, she helped with the Gran Fondo bike race as a much needed volunteer.

From day-to-day, Patty is always going the extra mile to help, acknowledge, and support members of the community with meals, gifts, and notes of kindness.

There is nothing Patty is involved in that she doesn’t put her whole heart and soul into by devoting tireless hours of her personal time and resources to accomplish the task at hand.

Congratulations, Patty, for going above and beyond to help out in our community. You are the epitome of a volunteer!
