2021 Remembrance Day
November 3 20212021 Remembrance Day Ceremony information:
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #170 in Cardston, Alberta would like to share information regarding the 2021 Remembrance Day Ceremony. With direction from Command and taking into consideration the ongoing CoVid 19 pandemic; the 2021 Cardston Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held outside at the Cenotaph. There will be a very small service at the cenotaph on November 11, 2021, at 10:30am.
The Legion encourages citizens to visit the cenotaph and pay their respects anytime throughout the week and that day. If you wish to come to the cenotaph between 10:30am and 11:00am that morning, please be mindful of the following things:
- There will be no seats set up for the public. Be prepared to stand and watch
- We will be on the lawn behind the Cenotaph and on the cement in front of the Cenotaph
- Weather may/will be a factor. Proper clothing for the elements should be considered
- Please social distance around the lawn or watch from your vehicle
- If you are driving around the Cenotaph at that time, please be respectful of the ongoing service
2021 is the 100-year anniversary of the poppy. Please support poppy drives around town to honour the poppy and our Veterans. Businesses and Municipalities with flag poles should be mindful that flags should be lowered before 11am on November 11th and stay lowered until November 12th.
Thank you for the unconditional support.
