The Town of Cardston is seeking a dedicated, reliable individual to join our Parks and Recreation department. This full-time position encompasses all department functions, with particular focus on the Cardston Cemetery.

About Us:

Cardston is a town of approximately 3,800 residents that takes pride in its comprehensive service offerings. Its parks and recreation assets include an ice arena, swimming pool, and golf course, as well as numerous outdoor courts, fields, playgrounds, and greenspaces.

Position Overview:

Manage the Cardston Cemetery, operate and maintain Cardston’s indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, and participate in the development of capital projects.

• 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
  • Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts required

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Foreperson and in compliance with Town of Cardston policy and all applicable regulations, you will be responsible for:

• Cemetery operations; including landscaping, irrigation, and burials
• Facility operations; including season opening/closing activities, supervision, and facilitating rentals
• Maintenance; including grass cutting, tree trimming, facility cleaning, and general repairs
• Projects; including participation in design, planning, and construction
• Worksite inspections, hazard assessments, and safety checks on vehicles and equipment
• Effective collaboration with other employees, departments, and contractors
• Interacting with the general public in a professional and courteous manner

Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal skills; including communication and conflict-resolution
• Valid driver's license
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays

The following qualifications are preferred, but the Town is willing to train the right candidate

• Relevant knowledge of operations, maintenance, and machinery
• Herbicide application certificate
• Air brake certificate
